What is a Level 3 Soil Test?

A level 3 soil analysis is required by all Georgia health departments in order to obtain your septic permit with the majority of counties requiring the permit before they are able to release your building permit. We understand the hoops it feels like you have to jump through to do anything, so we try to take the pressure and hassle out of the process as much as possible. We will come to your property (by appointment) and perform a Level-3 Soil Analysis with speed and efficiency so that you can continue on with your project with little interruption. When we are on the property we will be mapping your land by soil classification so that your local municipality has all the information they need.  Soil classification is the different soil series located in the different Major Land Resource Areas also known as MLRA's.

We will dig multiple holes on-site in the designated area where the septic drain field will be located.  After determining the different types of soils on-site, we use GPS to locate the borings, septic drain field corners,  and any draws or gullies if in the septic area.  After gaining all the information needed for the soil test, we draw a soil map (to scale) for your local health department.  This is the report needed to obtain your septic permit.  Some soils are not suitable for septic drain fields.

Problems we encounter include Rock Limitation, Brittle layers in the soil profile, and Seasonal High Water Tables.  This is why it is important to have a soil analysis before you purchase any property or plan to build your new home or business.  We will be glad to help you with any questions or concerns you may have about soil testing.
